~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths:
Like Sora and Roxas (or rather, because of them), Xion has a Keyblade! Iiit's exactly what it sounds like it is. If it's taken from her, all she needs to do is think about it and it'll come back to her hand! She uses it just as well as the other two; her fighting style is almost exactly the same as theirs. However, she's a little more versatile than they are in some circumstances; while she is a little weaker than the boys, her slightly smaller stature lets her move around a little faster than them. When she's down to her last straws, Xion can use a desperation attack called a Limit Break. Hers is called Event Horizon, wherein her strength and speed increase exponentially for a period of time. A little push further lets her use her Final Limit, where she summons four pillars of light that gather at a point, then spread out, causing major Light damage. Besides that, she can also cast the elemental spells Fire, Blizzard, Thunder, and Aero, as well as Cure.
Besides her offensive abilities, Xion has other abilities! As a "Nobody", she can use Corridors of Darkness as a means of transportation. It's somewhat like teleportation; she can open up a portal that looks like a purplish-black vortex, which can take her anywhere she's been. When using these Corridors, she must be wearing her Organization coat, as they protect their wearers from the negative effects of darkness.
How would they use their abilities?
Being that she pretty much only has offensive abilities, she'll only use them if she's being threatened or otherwise in danger somehow.
Appearance:
Appearance-wise, Xion is pretty much a black-haired version of Kairi in the first game. She wears her hair in a crop and has blue eyes! Being a "member" of Organization XIII, she wears the signature black coat, gloves, and heeled shoes. Also, she's tiny. As a being made of memories, though, she can also (inadvertently) take the form of other people—in canon, this includes Sora, Riku, Roxas, and Ventus. For the sake of things keeping things normal, this will... probably not happen, but I just wanted to get it out there.
To people she doesn't trust and/or doesn't like, her face won't be visible; to them, her hood would constantly be up and her face would be in shadow. Should she be wearing an outfit other than her Organization coat, she'll probably have a hood, hat, or some other way of hiding her face, to keep with the theme.
Background:
Once upon a time, there was a man named Ansem the Wise! He was a researcher who researched the heart--not the anatomical one, but something that's kind of like a person's soul, only... not. The KH universe is a complicated one, okay. Before long, though, Ansem realized nothing good would ever result from his research and experiments. He tried to stop his six assistants, but it was already too late. One experiment went awry, and Ansem's six apprentices lost their hearts. Because their hearts were strong, though, their bodies and souls stayed alive--they became the first Nobodies, beings without hearts and emotions. Xehanort's Nobody took the credit for his master's work; assuming the identity of Ansem, he became Xemnas, leader of Organization XIII. Organization XIII's goal soon became clear: claim hearts for themselves in order to be whole again.
To accomplish this, they needed more manpower. From then on, Organization XIII began recruiting more members--finally reaching their number of thirteen with the addition of Roxas, the Nobody of a person called Sora. Sora was instrumental in the Organization's plans: he could destroy Heartless! When destroyed by the Keyblade, Heartless release hearts that join Kingdom Hearts, the biggest heart of them all. Xemnas theorized that, should all Heartless be eradicated, Kingdom Hearts would be complete, and the Organization members would get their hearts back. Being Sora's Nobody, Roxas also inherited ownership of a Keyblade--this made him just as important as his original.
A little while after Roxas joined the Organization, a new member followed him: Number XIV, Xion. Yeah I know, Number XIV in Organization XIII doesn't make sense, BUT DOES LATER. Anyway, from the time she joined Organization XIII's ranks, Xion was always referred to as a "special Nobody." This was because she wasn't a Nobody at all! She was a Replica of Sora, created by the Organization from his memories at Castle Oblivion. Xion was merely a back-up, made in case Sora failed to be of any use of them. Because Sora's memories were the basis of her being, Xion resembled Kairi, one of Sora's best friends--Kairi was Sora's strongest memory at the moment of Xion's birth, hence the latter girl's appearance.
After Axel, Roxas's mentor and best friend, was sent to Castle Oblivion, Xemnas assigned Roxas to watch over Xion. Though at first she was completely silent, Xion quickly warmed up him, and quickly it got to the point where they were rarely seen apart. Soon, though, Roxas fell into a coma triggered by Sora's memories. Xion stayed conscious, visiting Roxas at his bedside every day he was out of commission. With each visit, she left behind a seashell. To her relief, Roxas did eventually wake up, and Axel returned from his stint at Castle Oblivion--the only one to do so, in fact, as the rest of the Organization sent there ended up dying. The three quickly struck up a friendship that would surely withstand the test of time!! ... A ha ha ha.
The restoration of Sora's memories after the events of Castle Oblivion started taking tolls on both Roxas and Xion, as they were both parts of him. They both started having flashes of his memories in their minds, and would occasionally black out. On one mission, Xion ran into Riku, Sora's best friend. Riku knew the truth about Xion, and knew she needed to return to Sora in order for him to be able to recover. Riku told her to that she needed to leave the Organization and merge back with Sora; though at first she was dismayed about the possibility of leaving her only friends, she went with him and was then considered MIA.
During her disappearance, Xion went to Castle Oblivion, where she found out the truth about her existence. She then visited Naminé, the girl in charge of restoring Sora's memories. Naminé told Xion that, because she was created from Sora's memories, she would disappear once she merged with Sora, and everyone would forget about her--it would be as if she had never existed in the first place. She accepted that this was the right thing to do, though, and resigned to her fate.
Unfortunately, the Organization just wouldn't let that be.
Axel had been sent out on a mission to track down Xion and bring her back to The World That Never Was. He attempted to bring her back without violence, but she fought back. Axel emerged as the victor and took her back to HQ, fainting upon entering the castle. Xemnas then came and recovered Xion's body, with the intention of "reprogramming her."
Things went somewhat normally for the next few days, but Roxas noticed that Xion wasn't quite herself. Just a few days before a year since his birth, Roxas decided to defect from the Organization, in order to find out who Sora was and why he was connected to him. He decided to go to Twilight Town, since it was the only place other than The World That Never Was he felt comfortable in. Once there, he went to the clock tower, the last place he felt a connection to.
At the top of the tower, Xion was waiting for him.
Only Xion didn't look like Xion--she had taken on Sora's appearance, as Xemnas had "reprogrammed" her to. She told Roxas that she needed to absorb him; they needed to become one to become the "real" Sora. That way, the real Sora would never awaken, and "Sora" would be completely under the Organization's command. (In her Secret Reports, though, she reveals that not all of this is true--she just wanted Roxas to absorb her, because she knew that if she stuck around, he's disappear; thus, she would save him and ruin Xemnas's plans.)
After her defeat, she told Roxas that what he did was for everyone's sake; he didn't need to worry about her, since all she could bring was destruction. Before dying, she told him to desert the Organization once and for all. She then died in his arms, leaving behind a single seashell, and giving Roxas the ability to wield two Keyblades at once.
Not even a day after Xion's death, Roxas ran into Riku; since Xion was now a part of Roxas, he subconsciously threw his Oblivion Keyblade at Riku. In doing so, Xion "told" Riku to stop Roxas, who was on his way to kill Xemnas--if Roxas had gone, he would have surely been defeated, and all hope for Sora's recovery would be lost. After helping Roxas destroy Heartless, he knocked Roxas out and brought him to DiZ, the person overseeing Naminé. They placed Roxas into a virtual Twilight Town until Sora was ready to merge with him.
While unconscious, Xion came up within Roxas's mind with a parting message: she told him not to feel bad about killing her--by becoming one with Roxas, she was one step closer to returning to Sora, and in turn saving the universe from the Organization. And even though she was forgotten, she had her memories of their time together, and as long as she could keep those, she would be happy. Afterward, the last traces of Xion faded from Roxas's mind.
Personality:
By nature, Xion is pretty shy. She's somewhat hesitant about interacting with people she doesn't know, and when she does, she's not very wordy. It was most obvious right after she was created; she didn't say a word until she befriended Roxas. She did manage to grow over the course of the game, though, and she's much more comfortable around most people now--barring the Organization members who aren't Roxas and Axel.
Friends are extremely important to Xion, if you couldn't already tell. Like original, like Replica! When with people she's comfortable with, she really opens up and becomes herself. She jokes around, she teases Roxas and Axel, and is just overall happy like a normal teenage girl. One of the only things Xion really wishes for is to be with her friends, to make up for the memories she never had.
Since she's not a real Nobody, she's perfectly capable of feeling emotions (though at first she doesn't know). She can display rather extreme emotions, especially anger: once provoked, Xion can get quite nasty. She is not helpless--although she can be prone to sudden blackouts and bouts of unconsciousness--she can definitely hold her own in a fight. Unfortunately, because she can't control her emotions properly, they often get the best of her, leading to... unfortunate consequences.
Whatever happens, though, Xion is a strong girl, despite the odds stacked against her, and will do whatever she can to keep herself and her friends happy. That's all she really wants.
