[ He's not giving her anymore details. Instead he's doing some stretches. ]

The monks where I'm from have a way staying young. We did all kinds of stuff. [ A lot of Airbenders did look younger than their age. ]

[she won't ask! if that's as much as he wants to tell her, she'll respect his privacy.]

So you're a monk, then? I can't say I've ever met one before!

Yep! [ Don't sound too pleased Aang. ] I'm glad to be the first one you've met. Didn't have any on your planet? Or did they just keep to themselves high in the mountains or something?

The latter—although it was more like... deeper in the caves. We lived underneath the surface.

Really? [ Aang doesn't mean to sound as if he doesn't understand how someone could live beneath the surface of a planet. But the truth is he doesn't. At the very least he has come to learn that there are many, many planets and most of them very different from each other. ]

So what was the surface like?

It's... uninhabitable, for the most part. We had a tunnel system underground that went all around the planet.

Wow. It sounds amazing. [ Really, the more he thinks about it, the cooler it sounds. ] How did you guys dig the tunnel system? Something like earthbending? [ He does a move without the airbending and grins. ]

[she looks on in surprise as he performs the little stunt, but it quickly turns into a warm smile.]

I don't know the specifics, but maybe!

[tilting her head, she continues:]

Let me guess, that's... "windbending"? [CLOSE ENOUGH?]

Yeah! How'd you guess?

Lucky guess!

So what about you? Do people on your planet have abilities like bending or something? [ Though he looks unsure for a second because he doesn't want to ask anything too personal. ]

[luckily, M'gann's not exactly private about that!]

I guess you could call it that! Have you ever heard of telekinesis? Or, well—any sorts of psychic powers?

[ He's thinking about that. And thinking about the Lion Turtle teaching him how to energy bend. But... He shakes his head. ]

I haven't. Sounds cool though. [ the names at least. ] Telekinesis. [ He just says it to say it. ]

Oh, well, it's not too complicated! Basically it means I can move things with my mind. Liiike... this!

[she raises her hand and looks in the direction of the refreshments table! in a few moments, there are two cups of punch (non-spiked, thank you) headed toward them, all while M'gann grins.]

[ Aang's eyes widen in awe. ] WOW! [ He takes the drink and stares at it for a couple of seconds. ] That was amazing!
I've never seen anything like it! [ Illusions and bending maybe, but never someone with the ability to move objects with their mind. ] Man, I bet you could move the entire ship if you wanted to!

[she laughs, blushing; she's way too modest for her own good. she waves her hand a little, too.]

Oh, no way. That's way too advanced for me.

[ Aang's smiling at her like he doesn't necessarily believe that's true, but he won't drag it out. He's sure she's amazing. ]

Were you born with that ability?

Yeah, I was—all Martians can do things like this.

You must have had a lot of responsibilities where you were from, with powers like that.

Responsibilities?

What did the people on your planet do with these abilities? Help people?

Oh! Well... sometimes! Mostly, though, we just... used them in everyday life.

It was a different situation when my uncle J'onn went to Earth, though. Humans aren't all born with powers like Martians are, so he used his abilities to become a hero there.

[ Wow. He can't even imagine, but it sounds awesome. ]

Sounds like your uncle J'onn is a pretty amazing. You seem pretty knowledgeable about Earth. Did you go to visit him a lot?
