[ she sits up correctly, and offers the girl a smile in return. It's theatrics, of course; they both know that the other isn't really in a smiling mood.
[she crosses the room and takes a seat next to Naminé, settling down with her smile still in place. now that she's here, though... she has no idea where to start. or if anything she has to say will even make things better. she's sad right now, sure, but it must be nothing compared to what Naminé must be going through, she thinks.]
[ when she speaks, it's in a tone that Xion should know quite well; the one she uses when she has to explain something from back home, usually bad. But the smile remains on her face. ]
[she does recognize it. in fact, it brings her back to their first meeting, back when Xion was still trying to figure herself out. that really was a long time ago, wasn't it? how much things had changed since then... nothing stayed constant forever, after all.]
[she looks down, hands folded in her lap.]
They're not really lost, right? They'll always be with us...
[he's looking worse for the wear and sporting two large stuffed animals under his arms: a sparkly dolphin and whatever the hell this is, seeming terribly out of place]
[at first she nods and stays seated as she watches Naminé walk toward the door with bated breath. she closes her eyes and takes a few breathes to calm down, collect her thoughts. maybe with this reprieve, she'd be able to better articulate how she's feeling (ha ha) right now.]
[when she hears Riku's voice, though—there's no way she can't recognize it, after all—she looks up. she waits for a bit, then decides to stand up and make her way over, too.]
[even more out of place in front of the two of them, he feels like he's accidentally called to head some meeting -- the leadership role hasn't suited him in a long while now]
[he pulls himself into the door and closes it behind him, if only to give himself some time to think]
[ no matter how hard it is for her or Xion, she knows that Riku is taking it the worst. Xion lost Axel, but she still has Roxas. Riku lost both Sora (repeatedly) and now Kairi.
if only they didn't have to go through this every few months. ]
[her head lifts as the stuffed animal is put into her hands, her eyes going from it to Riku and back again. she turns it over in her hands a couple of times; it's certainly something she would like, but... she wasn't nearly as close to Kairi as the other two were. it makes her feel a little out of place.]
["something to remember her by." the phrase makes something stir inside Xion, like she just got hit by a tidal wave of... emotions. she breathes slowly, deeply for a few moments before nodding as well. she lets her hair obscure her eyes as she holds her memento close to her face, just below her chin.]
[ whether or not she noticed is hard to say, but her eyes do flicker quickly toward Xion's. She doesn't address it, but instead sets her own memento on the table. ]
[not wanting to worry her friends, she shakes her head and puts on a smile again. she knows something like that won't fool them (especially them, really), but it's much better than looking so obviously gloomy.]
Yeah... the others, too.
[she doesn't need to specify. they would all have the same people in mind.]
action
but she still waves in a cheery manner. ]
Want to sit?

action
We keep losing people.
action
[she looks down, hands folded in her lap.]
They're not really lost, right? They'll always be with us...
[she sighs.]
BUt it's not the same.

Excuse me for a moment.
[ and as quietly as she can (which is pretty quiet, she doesn't normally make noise when she moves), she goes to open the door. ]
action
...Hey.
action
[when she hears Riku's voice, though—there's no way she can't recognize it, after all—she looks up. she waits for a bit, then decides to stand up and make her way over, too.]
action
Hi, Riku.
[ when Xion appears, she moves slightly to give the other girl some room to see him too. ]
action
[he pulls himself into the door and closes it behind him, if only to give himself some time to think]
...So I take it we all had the same idea.
action
Naminé just told me.
action
if only they didn't have to go through this every few months. ]
When do you think it happened?
action
[but he'd cleaned and cleaned and cleaned, as if trying to scrub her presence out of the apartment]
[mechanically, he hands the two girls the stuffed animals]
Figured she'd want you to have these.
[a light laugh]
After all, what would I do with them?
action
...Can we really?
action
It's what she would have wanted.
[ she glances at Xion before returning her attention to Riku ]
Thank you.
Re: action
Something to remember her by.
Re: action
Right... so we won't forget her. Thank you.
Re: action
Well...
Re: action
...Well. Yeah. Anyway, she'll probably be back, what with all of us being here.
Re: action
Yeah... the others, too.
[she doesn't need to specify. they would all have the same people in mind.]
Re: action
[ if they even remember. And knowing their track record, they most likely won't. ]
