All right.

[she goes up to the counter and orders two smoothies! the cashier is at first surprised she's not ordering ice cream, but she laughs with him as they finish their transaction. a couple of minutes later, she returns to Maka with the drinks!]

This one's on me.

[Maka blinks, a bit surprised at this and takes her drink out of her hand.]

Really? Are you sure?

Yeah. You deserve it.

Heh, thanks. [And she goes and sits in a booth, sipping away~.]

[she follows her friend, entering to face opposite her. after she sits down, she takes a few sips of her smoothie...and her eyes widen.]

This... is really good!

Haha, told you!

I don't know why I've never tried this before.

—Well, it's probably because I always order ice cream, but...

[She smiles at her friend and takes another sip.]

[Then she pulls her lips away from the straw:]

Y'know honestly...?

[the sudden change in atmosphere catches her off-guard.]

What?

I know he made the right choice. And I'm glad that he doesn't want to hurt me with this. It really lets me know that he cares about my feelings. And I'm grateful for that.

[A beat.]

... It still hurts a little somehow.

...[at first Xion's unsure of what to say, but again, the optimism she inherited from her original starts shining through.]

Just give it some time, Maka. I know it'll be hard, but things like this always work out in the end.

Yeah...

[Skeptical. Goes back to sipping.]

He cares about you enough to have done all this for you.

[She nods, getting a smile out of her.]

[a happy friend means a happy Xion! she's glad to finally return the smile.]

He told me not to go weird on him. I hope I can hold up to it. It'll be a little weird, that's for sure. This is all so new to me.

Just...be yourself. I mean, things'll be a little different, yeah, but... well, Hope and I still pretty much act the same around each other.

[She sighs.]

Be myself, huh?

Yeah. If you change the way you act... it might weird him out a little.

Mm... Make sense.

[She swings her leg under the table and sips.]

-- How are things with you and Hope?

[she turns the slightest shade of pink as she talks.]

Good! We went on our first...date the other day.

[Maka grins. Happy for her friend!]

Really? What did you two do?

We went out for ice cream, and he taught me how to sing.

[did you really expect anything else]

You didn't know how to sing?
