[And when Xion gets there, Maka is where she said they will meet. She sits at a table right near Pete's with her cheek resting on palm. Not exactly looking at the entrance to search for her friend. In fact, she's glancing off somewhere ahead of her -- obvious to anyone that it's nowhere in particular; a complete space out look on her face.]

...

[a short while later, Xion arrives in high spirits... but the smile on her face turns into a worried frown as she sees Maka.]

Maka—?

[Hearing someone call her name, Maka blinks to snap out of her thoughts and glances over.]

...? Oh, hey!

Is everything okay? You looked a little out of it there...

I'm fine, I'm fine!

[She stands up and pushes the chair in.]

-- Let's go.

[she wants to ask—]

[but she figures Maka will tell her when she's ready. they hadn't even gotten their ice cream, after all.]

Okay.

[And she starts to head off that direction to the ice cream place!]

[aaand initiating small talk.]

Ice cream always makes me happy.

I'm like that with smoothies.

Smoothies...those are the drinks that kind of like ice cream, right?

[She nods.]

Yeah! You should try some if you haven't already.

Do they sell them at the ice cream shop?

Not sure. We can check it out.

I'll definitely try one if they do.

[She smiles at her friend and then they arrive at the Ice Cream Shooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooop!]

[the alien employees wave in acknowledgment; Xion comes here way too often, so she's become a sort of favorite of theirs. after entering the shop, she cranes her neck to get a look at the menu.]

Let's see, smoothies...

[She peeks along with her.]

Maybe I should get a smoothie instead if they have it.

Oh, they do!

[she points eagerly at the sign, at a section that lists different kinds of milkshakes and smoothies.]

Which is your favorite?

Mango-banana.

I've had mango ice cream before! I thought it was good. I've never had banana before, though.

You should give it a shot!

[she nods in agreement!]

It has to be good if you like it.

Trust me, it's delicious.
